FreeTube is a frontend Youtube application that allows you to watch Youtube videos without ads, and that is easier on your computer than Youtube itself

You can import all your Youtube subscriptions easily I can't recommend it enough.

You can paste Youtube links directly into Freetube and it will automatically load

You can easily customize the appearance

In my personal experience: Freetube always loads faster, buffers less, and never makes my computer lag like Youtube does

In January of 2024, an issue with Adblock caused jumps in CPU usage that caused significant slowdowns on Youtube. This kind of strain can damage computers, and with Youtube's aggressive anti-adblocker measures, it will be best long-term to use a frontend to get Youtube videos directly from the server.

Otherwise.. You'll be subject to the ongoing war between Adblock and Youtube, unless you want to pay $15 a month to watch ad-free. But, even if you do pay for Premium, you should know that the premium users of Youtube still suffered if they had Adblock installed on their browser regardless of whether or not it was being used to block ads on Youtube.
