elephant skulls. The huge nose cavity makes it easy to believe claims that Greeks based the cyclops off of their skulls, but we have no proof of that and its pretty much just conjecture. There's an interesting article here talking about more details
owl skull
Some owls actually have such asymmetrical ears that it presents in their skulls as well. It is present in both Boreal Owls and Northern Saw-whet Owls (both are in the genus Aegolius.), and Northern Saw-whet Owls have one ear higher than the other. The ear canals face different directions, This ear structure helps them receive sounds in different directions.
